FD maturity formula

For a cumulative deposit, the estimated maturity value follows the standard compound-interest structure:

A = P (1 + r / n) ^ (n x t)

A is the maturity amount, P is principal, r is the annual rate as a decimal, n is the number of compounding periods per year and t is tenure in years. The result may differ from an institution's quote if it uses different compounding, rounding or day-count rules.

How to interpret the final amount

A maturity amount is useful only when the inputs match the product. Do not compare a cumulative maturity amount directly with a monthly payout without considering when the interest is received and whether it is reinvested.
