How this Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana calculator estimates maturity

This Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana calculator helps you explore how an annual contribution might grow over a 21-year planning horizon. Enter the total amount for one year, select how many years you expect to contribute, choose whether each contribution is modeled at the beginning or end of its year, and enter an annual rate assumption. The result separates total contributions from estimated growth so you can see which part comes from deposits and which part comes from the model.

The tool is designed for a quick planning comparison, not for opening an account or reproducing a government account statement. It treats the annual rate as constant throughout the projection and uses yearly steps. The actual SSY calculation may depend on the rate declared for each period, the dates and amounts credited, the applicable balance rules, rounding and the account's own opening date. Those details can make an official amount different from an online estimate.

You can use the same Sukanya Samriddhi calculator to compare a smaller annual amount with a larger one, or to see how contributing for fewer years changes the projected balance. Keep the rate fixed while changing the contribution, then hold the contribution fixed while testing a different rate. Changing one input at a time makes the effect easier to interpret.

The prefilled 8.2% rate is only a worked-example assumption. It is not presented as a current SSY interest rate and is not fetched from a government service. Before planning around a real account, check the rate and effective period in the latest official notice, then enter the applicable value yourself. The page is an independent estimate and does not represent India Post or a bank.

How to use the SSY calculator

1

Enter an annual total

Add the amount you plan to contribute in one year. Use the total annual amount, even if you would make several deposits during that year.

2

Check the rate first

Find the official rate and the period it applies to. Enter that value instead of treating the example input as a current quote.

3

Set contribution years

Choose a whole number from 1 to 15 to test how long you expect to contribute during the 21-year projection.

4

Choose deposit timing

Compare a beginning-of-year contribution with an end-of-year contribution. This simple choice changes how many modeled growth periods that year's deposit receives.

5

Review the breakdown

Compare projected balance, total contributions, estimated growth, rate and the horizon date. Save your assumptions and check an official account illustration before acting.

SSY, PPF, NSC and FD calculators answer different questions

A maturity amount alone does not make two savings products interchangeable. Start with the product's deposit pattern and term, then use the calculator built for that scenario.

ToolPlanning assumptionBest fit
SSY calculatorAnnual contributions for a selected period, then a 21-year projectionExplore a Sukanya Samriddhi account scenario with an editable constant rate.
PPF calculatorAnnual contribution with a separate opening balance and planning termCompare a Public Provident Fund scenario and its own account assumptions.
NSC calculatorOne-time investment with a five-year maturity estimateEstimate a National Savings Certificate purchase rather than recurring contributions.
FD calculatorA deposit principal, rate, tenure and payout choiceCompare a bank or Post Office fixed-deposit offer with its entered terms.

How the SSY maturity estimate is calculated

The calculator grows a balance once per year. For each contribution year, your selected timing controls whether the deposit is added before or after that year's modeled growth:

Balance = (prior balance + beginning-of-year contribution) x (1 + r), then add any end-of-year contribution

The model repeats that step for 21 years, includes contributions only for the selected 1 to 15 years, and then reports total contributions and balance growth separately. The same user-entered annual rate is used in every year. This is a simplified annual projection; an official account calculation can use monthly balance rules and changing notified rates, so this equation should not be read as the scheme's official calculation formula.

Example: INR 50,000 each year for 15 years

Example inputs: INR 50,000 annual contribution | 8.2% example rate | 15 contribution years | beginning-of-year timing | 21-year horizonUnder this annual model, the projected balance is about INR 2,394,040. Total contributions are INR 750,000 and estimated growth is about INR 1,644,040.

The example assumes the same 8.2% rate for all 21 years and places each contribution at the beginning of its contribution year. It is an arithmetic illustration, not an official quote or a forecast of a future government rate. Change the timing to end of year and the estimate will be lower because deposits receive less modeled growth. Replace every example value with the information that applies to your own scenario.

What to verify before relying on an SSY projection

This SSY maturity calculator uses one annual contribution amount and one constant annual rate. It cannot model a different rate for every quarter or year, multiple deposit dates, a late deposit, missed contributions, account penalties, withdrawals, tax treatment or account-specific adjustments. If your plan includes those details, use the tool only for a rough comparison and ask the account provider for the official illustration.

Deposit timing matters. A beginning-of-year contribution receives an extra modeled year of growth compared with an end-of-year contribution. Real deposits can arrive on different dates, and the official balance method may not match either annual assumption exactly. When you compare tools, check whether they use annual, monthly or daily steps and whether they assume the contribution arrives at the start or end of a period.

The displayed 21-year horizon starts from today's date to make a new-account planning example easy to read. It is not the maturity date of an existing account. An account's official dates depend on its opening details and applicable scheme rules. If you already have an account, use its passbook or official statement to confirm the opening date and maturity terms.

The default 8.2% value is an example input only. Small-savings rates can change by effective period, so check the current government notification or official India Post information before entering a real rate. This site does not fetch or verify a live rate, and a saved result does not update when a rate changes.

The result is not a guarantee, investment recommendation, tax calculation or confirmation of eligibility. It does not account for inflation, purchasing power, fees, tax, withdrawals or account servicing. A higher projected number can be useful for comparing assumptions but should not be treated as a promised return.

Your calculator entries are processed in the browser for this calculation. Do not enter an account number, login, payment information or other sensitive personal details. For a real deposit decision, compare the estimate with official scheme conditions and your own financial needs.

Check current SSY rules and rates

Use official India Post and Ministry of Finance information to confirm scheme terms and the rate effective for the period you are planning. The calculator does not retrieve a live rate. Official pages could not be fetched during this research run, so this page makes no date-specific rate claim.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana calculator FAQ

What does a Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana calculator estimate?

It projects a balance from an annual contribution, contribution years, deposit timing and the rate you enter. It separates total contributions from estimated growth and uses a simplified 21-year annual model.

Does this SSY calculator use the current interest rate?

No. The rate field is editable and the prefilled value is only an example. Check the official rate notice for the period you are planning, enter that rate and keep its effective date with your comparison.

What SSY interest rate applies in 2026?

This page does not verify or publish a 2026 rate. Government small-savings rates can be revised by period; check the latest official India Post or Ministry of Finance notice before using a rate in your estimate.

Can I calculate an SSY maturity amount for monthly deposits?

This version accepts one total annual contribution and does not simulate separate monthly payment dates. Add together the amount you plan for the year, then choose a beginning- or end-of-year timing assumption for a simple comparison.

How many years can I contribute in this Sukanya Samriddhi calculator?

You can model between 1 and 15 contribution years within the 21-year projection. The contribution count is an input assumption; confirm the rules and account-specific dates that apply to your account through official information.

Why does beginning-of-year timing show a larger balance?

A deposit added at the beginning of a modeled year receives that year's growth step. A deposit added at year end does not. Actual credited dates and monthly balance rules can differ from both simplified choices.

Is the projected 21-year date my account's maturity date?

No. It is a planning horizon counted from today. An existing account's maturity date depends on its official opening details and applicable rules; check the account record or ask the provider.

How is an SSY calculator different from a PPF calculator?

This tool models the annual contribution and 21-year horizon used for an SSY planning scenario. The PPF tool has a separate contribution and tenure model. Compare products with their own official terms rather than transferring one tool's assumptions to another.

Are the returns from this Sukanya Samriddhi calculator guaranteed?

No. The result is a mathematical estimate using the constant rate you enter. Rates, account details and official calculations can differ; the page does not promise a return or replace an account statement.
